NEWSSMV DEVELOPS NEW MAP OF BRABANTCITY
BRABANTSTAD 2040
Spatial Agenda
The Dutch government is working on an integral long term vision for the nation’s urban networks. As the nation’s second urban network BrabantStad (BrabantCity) wishes to think along with the government about the nation’s vision on BrabantCity 2020-2040. The region’s spatial agenda offers, from the region’s perspective, a first incentive to the current themes and issues. The urban network of BrabantCity, consisting out of five complementary cities each with their own specific profile, wishes to maintain a sustainable and competitive perspective as one of the leading European R&D regions. The future of BrabantCity as a sustainable, innovative and competitive R&D region lies in the combination of the outstanding life in Brabant amidst the international networks and its economic competitive and innovative power; a smart combination of regional core values with a globally orientated drive of tradition and modernity. The image of BrabantCity which comes to mind is one of a vast metropolitan campus with urban and scenic highlights, a mosaic, a sustainable lab for knowledge, research, innovation and creativity, a combination of high tech, high touch and high green, of Brainport and Brabants Bont. This image fits perfectly into the core qualities of the region, the research institutes, the industry, the creativity, the landscape, the way of life and the past of this urban-village network within a green-blue mosaic.
